Many sites have crafted all manner of “Best Of 2016” lists, reviews, and other musical offerings–we decided not to partake this year, because honestly, we go to great lengths to feature only the best music all year long–and what a year it’s been!
In 2016, Mother Church Pew reviewed over 40 stellar releases from amazing artists, including albums by Courtney Marie Andrews, Sarah Jarosz, John Paul White, The Lumineers, Lori McKenna, Robert Ellis, and Sara Watkins. We’ve recorded live sessions on a small stage, in a tattoo parlor, at New West Records, in a white room with no corners, and on an abandoned air strip. We’ve attended and reviewed some unforgettable shows, had our minds blown at Americana Fest, and met some life-changing folks.
We also curated a live showcase or two, one of which was our first anniversary celebration in August, featuring our friends The Coal Men, Bill Eberle, Stewart Eastham, Jon Reynolds, and Melanie Bresnan. It’s been such a fantastic year, and we’re so grateful that you joined us on the adventure. We’ve got even more in store for you, so stay tuned. Here’s to all that awaits us in 2017! See you next year!
