Video Premiere: “Over It” by McKenzie Lockhart

Raised in the storied Shoals of northern Alabama and in pursuit of her musical dreams in Nashville, folk-pop songstress McKenzie Lockhart began to experience a longing for home-grown community and a greater space to explore her own creativity—her story then took a unique turn as she packed up her things and headed south with a renewed sense of purpose. After moving back to Florence where she currently resides, she dug deep into her roots and invested in her local music community by establishing CO-OP, a house show movement. During this this time, Lockhart found her voice afresh and decided to channel her new sound into her first proper EP, Interlaced, set for release on September 9th.

The writing, recording, and release of Interlaced is truly a collaborative affair that brings together many of the voices that fill Lockhart’s every day life, showcasing her reconnection with community and her newly revived appreciation for the soil that made her who she is.

Ahead of the September 9th release, Lockhart is releasing a live session video for “Over It”, a track from the EP about the rough patches of a maturing love. The video features the singer in an old school bus, wielding her guitar and the easy-going beauty of her golden voice.

Mother Church Pew is proud to premiere the video for “Over It” by McKenzie Lockhart:
