In the English vernacular, we often refer to the action behind an idea as a “two-way street”–loyalty, relationships, communication, they all seem to fit into that concept. In her new single “Two Way Street,” Michigan-based singer-songwriter Annie Bacon contends that love doesn’t always work that way. And that’s true sometimes, isn’t it? Often, we find ourselves giving more than the person we love, and the realization of that fact can be crushing.

“Two Way Street,” the final single before Bacon releases her new album on July 19th, was written in response to a personal memory, but from its first informal performance on a porch in northern Michigan, the song began resonating with that universal truth. The artwork for the single was created by music photojournalist Robert Alleyne of London d861a836-9915-45a9-9def-35f2adeb4a6c.jpgand captures that moment when the person you love has just walked away, out of your presence, and ultimately, out of your memories. The video, which Bacon unveils today, was directed by William Westley and edited by Brian Lillie, and extends that theme of loneliness as Bacon showers affection upon and cares for people who are non-responsive.

Her vocal style calls to mind greats like Rickie Lee Jones and Joni Mitchell, with tenderness and emotion flowing from each lyrical turn of phrase. Without further ado, Mother Church Pew proudly presents “Two Way Street,” the new video from Annie & her OSHEN:
