Moving from the hustle and bustle of Toronto to the picturesque countryside of Prince Edward County gave singer/songwriter Jeremie Albino the much-needed space to create his unique brand of electrified folk. On August 9th, Albino will release his new album, Hard Time, via Cinematic Music Group.
“I wanted to try this song stripped-down and the idea sort of evolved into this fun performance,” he says of the acoustic video for the album’s title track. “I’m inspired by a lot of women and here I got to perform with some of my favourites. Taylor Guitard, Carleigh Aikins and the O’pears (Lydia Persaud, Meg Contini and Jill Harris). It was a blast to sing in this beautiful space with them stomping, clapping and wailing at me!”
The video’s format allows us to witness the foundational elements of Albino’s raw talent–his powerful vocals and his guitar–beautifully supported by a harmonious choir of strong, heavenly voices, their voices echoing in the rafters of the space, their clapping hands and stomping feet providing the rhythm section. There is no fussy production strategy or studio trickery needed here, and this is what makes Americana so relatable. This is what roots music is all about.
Without further ado, Mother Church Pew proudly presents “Hard Time,” the new video from Jeremie Albino:
