Premiere: “Cold Cold Love” by CALICO The Band

What would you do for love? California Americountry outfit CALICO The Band, led by duo Manda Mosher and Kirsten Proffit, explore that idea in their new single, “Cold Cold Love.”

‘”Cold Cold Love’ addresses the damage that occurs when you love a character who continually ties you into dangerous situations,” explains Mosher. “During the writing of the song, we took the angle of a murder ballad setting to honor that tradition while bringing a sense of levity to a trying situation. I initially developed the song with my co-writing partner Ian Gothe and then finished it with Jamie Rounds who was a beloved writer in the Nashville community,” she adds. “The feel of the song fit well into the collection of Calico’s Under Blue Skies.”

Under Blue Skies, the band’s sophomore album, is set for release on September 15th via California Country Records; the record offers insight into life, love, and pursuit of dreams set against the all-too-familiar ethos the Los Angeles, and unveils depth in an area brimming with surface-level lifestyles.

“Cold Cold Love” is a rocking road tune with tight harmonies and bluesy guitar licks that distill the heat and grit of the California desert into sonic form.
