Live Show Review: The Tall Pines in Nashville

The Tall Pines, comprised of Christmas Davis and wife Connie Lynn Petruk, recently descended on the Music City with their signature fire and conviction, playing a show at local venue The Family Wash.  Petruk held down percussive duties–a foot on the suitcase stomp box, a maraca in one hand, and a tambourine in the other–as Davis swayed and sashayed at her side, wielding his fuzzy guitar and his gruff vocals like a double-edged sword.

The duo played selections like the bold “Fear Is The Devil” (a song which was proudly premiered on this site), and the sultry “Hooked On You”, along with some swoon-worthy new tunes; “We don’t have a Mother’s Day song, but here’s a new song that’s as close as we can get,” Davis said, and sang “Mama always said don’t build your house upon the sand/but all I’ve ever seen was sand.”  I can’t wait to see what comes next.
