It’s time to get your tickets for the 30th year of MerleFest, and this year’s lineup is the business.

First, some history: MerleFest, named to honor the memory of Doc Watson’s late son, Eddy Merle Watson, was hosted by the legendary Doc Watson himself prior to his death. The gathering happens on the last weekend of April on the campus of Wilkes Community College in Wilkesboro, North Carolina, and is consistently one of the largest music festivals in the nation. MerleFest offers a mix of traditional and contemporary roots music, a blend that Doc himself called “traditional plus”–bluegrass, contemporary acoustic, blues, folk, old-time music, zydeco, jazz, country, Celtic, Americana, and rock n’ roll spread across 13 different stages and held over a four day period.

Next year, the event will occur from April 27-30, 2017, and promises a star-studded lineup that will be revealed over the next few months. The first announcement for the 2017 lineup includes Zac Brown Band with a very special acoustic set, Del McCoury BandJim LauderdaleSam BushJerry DouglasPeter RowanMountain Heart–and many more, which can be found here: merlefest.org/lineup/.
