This week, 62 year old soulful blues man Robert Finley released his aptly-named debut album, Age Don’t Mean A Thing, via Big Legal Mess (Fat Possum) last week; Finley, who, at age 11, used money meant to buy shoes to purchase his first guitar, recently told NPR that being able to play soul music for a living in spite of going blind “a dream come true… what more could a man ask.” Finley loves to perform, and senses the energy from the audience even when he can’t see it.
If you’re in the Memphis, Tennessee area, be sure to catch Finley live at his album release show on October 6th at Lafayette’s, which will also be recorded by syndicated radio show Beale Street Caravan.
