Premiere: “A Cup Of Rain” by Don Gallardo

“When you’re down, I’ll pick you up, I’ll be the shelter you dream of,” sings Nashville-based troubadour Don Gallardo in “A Cup Of Rain”, the latest single from his acclaimed album, Hickory, out via Southern Carousel Records.

Gallardo, who will release Hickory on July  22nd in the U.S., teamed up with a star-studded roster of sidemen for the project, which made its international debut via U.K. label Clubhouse Records last year. The singer has said that the album’s inspiration comes from his northern California upbringing to his current life in the buckle of the American Bible Belt. The singer will celebrate the occasion with a free show at Nashville haunt The Family Wash, supported by Caleb Caudle, Matt Haeck, and Lani Ford, on July 21st.

With easygoing vocal stylings and simple production, the album’s thirteen tracks invoke the spirit of the great storytellers of the 1970s. “A Cup Of Rain” features understated flourishes of  yearning pedal steel, as the music gently flows just beneath and dances with Gallardo’s tender voice.
